Interviews: Unsung Heroes: Bob Trotter and the Hellenic American Search & Rescue Team

In this inspiring episode, Anna Eliopoulos interviews Bob Trotter, a true friend of Greece and a hero whose dedication often goes unrecognized. Alongside his cousin in Nafpaktos, Bob founded the Hellenic American Search & Rescue Team, the only volunteer firefighting team in the region of Nafpaktia. Through his U.S.-based nonprofit, Friends of Hellenic Firefighters, Bob has helped ship nearly one million dollars’ worth of firefighting, search-and-rescue, and medical equipment to Greece—supporting not only his own team but also countless volunteer groups across the country.

Every summer, Bob spends two months on the front lines, battling wildfires throughout Sterea Ellada, while leading a campaign to fund a much-needed fire truck for his team. His unwavering service, generosity, and love for Greece embody the very best of the Hellenic spirit.

This episode is a heartfelt tribute to a man who asks for no credit, yet deserves it all.
